Gov-Kayode-Fayemi-of-Ekiti-state
The Director of ‘Code of Conduct Bureau, in Ekiti State, Akinfolarin Feyisola, has instructed Governor Kayode Fayemi to declare his end of tenure assets before the expiration of his tenure, without fail.
On Sunday, 5 October, Feyisola said that all public officers had been duly informed about the assets declaration directive. He stated that the directive affected the outgoing governor, his deputy and other political office holders in the state.
He said that it was compulsory for every political office holder in all parts of the country to declare their assets before coming into office and when their tenure nears expiration.
Speaking further, the Director said anyone who failed to comply would be brought before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for going against the law, adding that some of the affected persons had started collecting the assets declaration forms after receiving the reminder of the constitutional provision.
Feyisola also acknowledged that the present closure of all the courts in the state had proved to be an encumbrance to those who had filled their forms but have nowhere to swear affidavit or do other court processes.
He, however, implored the political officers who are yet to collect their assets forms to come forward for collection, pending the time the courts will be re-opened.
