25 people have been confirmed dead after a bomb went off at the Gombe Line Motor Park early this morning. Several others are injured.<br />

Three suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the bomb blast.<br />
<br />
The Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Abdullahi Kudu Nma told reporters the command has arrested three people in connection with the attack, but further details concerning the attack are expected shortly.<br />

Like an innocuous flame, it started and no one paid attention. Then, it became a flickering flame, yet no one took them seriously. Today, the flickering flame has become a wild fire, a hydra-headed monster threatening to squeeze the very life out of Nigerians.<br />
From a band of ragtag army, the Jama’atul Ahlus Sunna Lid Da’awatis Jihad sect, otherwise known as Boko Haram insurgents, have transformed to this sophisticated, well organised terror group, killing, maiming and destroying everything on their path like a rabid dog that does not recognise its owner.<br />
They have rendered thousands homeless and sent thousands more to early grave. In our usual quest to seek a better life for the people by making their voices heard in the right circles, Vanguard visited the victims of the insurgency in their camps in Yola and its environs in Adamawa State and they shared their heart-rending stories, crying out for help:<br />

THE first port of call was the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare Village, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State where over 5,000 internally-displaced persons, IDPs, are camped. Many came from Michika, Madagali, Gulak and Bazza in Adamawa State as well as Bama and Gwoza in Borno State. Michika (with a population varying between 150,000 and 375,000, was seized by Boko Haram on September 7, 2014 while Madagali fell into their hands on September 1; Gulak was seized on September 1; Bama was seized on September 2 while Gwoza with a population of 276,312 according to the 2006 census, was captured on August 11.<br />
Speaking with Vanguard, Mallam Haruna Hamman Furo, Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, ADSEMA said so far, they have been able to manage the IDPs, providing them with the basic necessities like shelter, food, relief materials, medical care and also education.<br />

Customers have come to the realisation of the ease associated with e-money," he said in a statement.</p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 10px; text-align: justify;">Dozie further noted that Diamond Bank had risen to the challenge of the new order of electronic banking through the development of products such as BETA, which incorporates the traditional method of savings in an account with low minimum account balance and low fees, bearing interest.</p><p style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 10px; text-align: justify;">"Diamond Bank also has a mobile App which has functions for financial transactions and lifestyle products. The App can be installed on smart phones and tablets. I used to manage a boutique here in Nigeria until I lost everything. I dropped out of school in Primary 4 due to lack of funds and sponsorship. I managed to raise money with which I travelled to Brazil, where I worked in a bakery.</p><p style="margin: 0px; padding: 10px 0px; border: 0px; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17px; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(51, 51, 51);">"But my salary was too meagre and I lived in poverty. Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has said he goes to beer parlour every Friday in order to enable him to get close to the common man in the state.<br />
<br />
The governor spoke with journalists in Abuja on Thursday while defending the concept of what he described as “stomach infrastructure” introduced by his government.<br />
<br />
He said it would be wrong to assume that stomach infrastructure means only sharing of food and money to the people.<br />
<br />
Fayose defended his decision to go to beer parlours, saying that it would be wrong to equate governance with church or morality.<br />
<br />
He said, “I also go to beer parlour on Friday to stay with the common men there. Governance is not church;  it is about diverse characters and you must relate with them as such.<br />
<br />
“Christmas is coming. Why do people go out of their ways to be shopping or doing other things if it is not just to make  people merry?<br />
<br />
“So, I’m grooming chicken, buying rice, yams, plantain, and the rest of them. I am sure if I give it to families during the festive period, they will be happy. So, stomach infrastructure is a way of life.”<br />
<br />
Fayose said most people, who commit crime do so because they felt that life was no longer worthy of living for them and that there was no one to tell them that there was life for them.<br />
<br />
He said it was because of this that he set up a department for stomach infrastructure and also appointed a special assistant and a personal assistant on it.<br />
<br />

24yr old British-Nigerian lady, Joy Williams (pictured above) has died after a failed £2,000 butt enlargement surgery in Bangkok, Thailand. The young lady's older brother, Anietie, who lives in Nigeria, said the family didn't even know she'd traveled to Thailand.<br />

But she was found dead on the operating table with a three inch-long stitched incision on her tail bone after medical staff found they were unable to resuscitate her.<br />
Thai officials investigating her death believe her operation had been delayed to ensure Miss Williams had not eaten anything beforehand and that as a result the operation began after the clinic's legal closing time of 7pm.<br />
It is believed Miss Williams had long struggled with her self-esteem and been bullied at school before choosing to undergo an operation on her nose to improve her looks.<br />

Doctor Sompob Sansiri claimed to have trained in the U.S. and been practicing since 1998, but he is now facing ten years behind bars<br />
While in Bangkok she had been staying at the £11-a-night Vabua Asotel hotel which is used by the clinic as accommodation for its patients.<br />
<br />
The doctor who carried out the procedure, Sompob Sansiri, 51, was later arrested and accused of negligence after it was found that he had been carrying out night-time surgery without a licence.<br />
<br />
He has now been charged with recklessness causing death and could face 10 years in jail if found guilty.<br />
<br />
The clinic has been closed for 60 days while investigations are carried out. Thailand is a world-leader in cosmetic surgery tourism with many companies offering procedures at discounts of up to 60 per cent. The industry earned the country £2.68billion in 2013 alone.<br />
One of Joy's friend who spoke with UK Telegraph said she had suffered bullying and low self esteem issues while they were in school and that she was never happy with herself.<br />
<br />
"She was a really, really nice girl. She was very friendly and caring. She was always helping her mum with her brothers. She was a very bright girl and did well at school. She was a bit shy and quiet and I knew in later years there was something wrong and upsetting her. At school she had been bullied over her appearance and she went for surgery on her nose and face. Last time I saw her it was obvious she had had cosmetic surgery. She was fine before, she didn’t need to. She was fine the way she was but she just wasn’t happy. She had no self esteem and I guess she felt she needed to do it. She was just never happy with herself.”<br />
Police are now waiting for the postmortem result which would determine if the doctor will be charged for medical negligence.<br />

My father was a custom officer and my mother a grade II teacher. Things were smooth for us until my father had issues with the Nigeria Customs and there was a turn around. My mum's income was not enough for our upkeep and as the first child of the family, I wanted to support her. I moved into selling of clothes and other petty businesses at Tincan Island . But before that, I had loved entertainment, simply by watching home videos. Music and films were part of me. I had a cousin who I used to accompany to Fadeyi to see a friend of his. Then actors had their caucus known as 'Star Parade' there and each time we went visiting, I felt like becoming part of them. A friend introduced me to him and I went to the location. On getting there, Iyabo Yoyo and the producer had issues and she left angrily. I didn't know what was happening but I was given her role, the lead role in the movie. I never knew it was the lead role, the joy of having to take up such a big role was enough for me and I enjoyed every bit of it. When the film was premiered at the National Theatre, everybody loved it and that was when it dawned on me that I was cheated because I wasn't made to understand I was taking a lead role or rewarded as such. Frankly, it is one of the reasons why many go into extra marital affairs. Even when a man has everything in the world and does not satisfy me sexually, there is serious trouble. I cannot go into a marriage and start regretting, besides, you won't be able to tell your family members what you are going through in the name of marriage. And this is not because the man does not have money but because he is only irresponsible and doesn't want to face his responsibilities squarely. I cannot respect a man who does not know how I do my things or even respect my opinion. When we have two masters in a ship, the ship will capsize.
