But if I may ask, what kind of a person would sacrifice his life in order to kill innocent people and what would possibly motivate that person to take the offer of becoming a suicide bomber?<p>In the wake of several tragic incidents, the government, civil society as well as security agencies have always found it difficult to objectively analyse the causes and processes through which suicide bombings are carried out since there is no single theory as to what brings about such wicked act. However, the truth is that suicide bombing has become a most accessible weapon of choice available to the terrorist groups because of its cost-effectiveness, lethality, ability to cause confusion as well as the tremendous amount of publicity and fear it generates as clearly witnessed in the series of bomb attacks across the nation. For example, immediately after the last blast, the usual crowd witnessed at motor parks, night clubs and other social event centres, in no time, disappeared because of the wide speculations through the media that there was likely to be another bomb attack in those areas. This is a classical example of the effect of fears associated with terrorism.<p>Characteristics of a potential suicide bomber<p>There is no specific profile for anyone who engages himself in suicide bombing. A suicide bomber can come from nearly every cultural background, religion, race, creed or gender. However, the following are common characteristics of a potential suicide bomber.<p>Through his behaviour<p>• He behaves in a way similar to someone with no future.<p>• His mental state could present clues – his eyes are secretive, he makes obvious attempt to avoid eye contact with the people he perceived to be his enemies and always looking at every possible exit.<p>• Mumbling prayers – may be fervently praying to himself, showing the impression of whispering to someone else.<p>• He shows no response to any authoritative voice, command or instruction.<p>Through his appearance<p>• He wears clothes that are unsuitable for the present-day weather. For instance, wearing of sweater or rain-coat during hot weather.<p>• He wears slack or puffy clothes. This gives the impression that his body is excessively larger than his head or feet.<p>• Sweating – resulting from tension and stress or wearing of unsuitable clothes. For instance, wearing a heavy coat during high weather temperature.<p>• He appears to be focused and more vigilant on his target.<p>• He will usually have his hands placed in the pocket, around the button of the detonator and ready to set off the bomb at the slightest opportunity.<p>• He carries big bags or backpacks tightly with wires piercing out of the bag.<p>• He may most likely have a clean shave or low hair-cut especially when he is ready to carry out the task. This may be done to disguise his real appearance.<p>• He displays signs of drug use. For instance, his pupils become enlarged with fixed staring.<p>• His breathings are heavy and rapid.<p>• Mostly male who falls between the age range of 16 to 30 years of age.<p>• He looks aggressive, restless, irritable and nervous.<p>Through his movement<p>• He walks awkwardly or clumsily in an unusual and odd manner. This is usually due to the unsuitable attire he is wearing and sometimes due to the weight of the explosive devices tied around his body.<p>• He tries to be evasive in movement. This unusual gait is adopted to evade security agents and some other persons who may foil his plans.<p>• Often times, he may not know the route to his target destination very well, hence he may occasionally ask for directions. One of the suicide bombers that struck at a church in Kaduna in late 2013 had to ask commercial motorcyclists for direction to the church he eventually struck.<p>Through his kind of person/other features<p>• He tries to blend into a group which he clearly does not belong to. For instance, he tries to attend Church worship services even as a non-Christian with clear intention to carry out surveillance and identify vulnerable areas before attack.<p>• He demonstrates forceful actions in order to reach his desired target by pushing the crowd so as to find his way into a restricted area or showing desperations to reach a crowded point or particular target.<p>• He will usually have an unusual herbal smell. Well, I have received your letter, but I am not the one to give it to Boko Haram because I don't know Boko Haram and I have never seen Boko Haram. But I will give it to the NSS or the Chief of Defence Staff who will submit your letter accordingly.<p>"To my children, thank you for your letter. Thank you for your deliberation. I have received what you gave to me. I will make sure I pass it to the President because it is addressed to him and the other one is addressed to Boko Haram. That is why the two are different," she added.<p>Earlier, Patience had told the children that God's instruction to mankind to honour their parents was not limited to their biological parents only.<p>She said, "It is bad to abuse our country and the President because God has made him the head.<p>"The Almighty God commands us to pray for our leaders. We therefore need to pray for the development of our country and the President.<p>"Remember that a child that abuses his father and mother is disobeying God's commandment because the Bible says in Exodus 20:12 that you should honour your father and mother so that you may live long in the land that the Lord your God has given you."<p>She assured the children and adults who attended the event that the Federal Government was doing all within its powers to secure the release of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok, Borno State.<p>While calling on Nigerians to be united in the fight against terrorism, Patience also advised that citizens should learn to encourage soldiers who are at the forefront of the terrorism war.<p>"It is the right of every child to go to school. It is only through education that you can be able to achieve your dreams and contribute meaningfully to your community and the nation.<p>"We desire peace in our community and in our nation. I want you all to be ambassadors of peace in your schools and practise good manners. We have no other country than Nigeria.<p>"We therefore need to be patriotic and committed to our dear country. We should strengthen our covenant with our country as outlined in the National Pledge.<p>"Let us therefore be united in fighting terrorism. The purported message is claimed to have been issued by the Ministry of Health in the fight against breast cancer.<p>One of the versions I have received read thus:<br>Very soon, women will be paying men to have their breasts sucked! According to a report on BBC website, Doctors recommend that women reduce the risk of getting breast cancer by having their breasts sucked thoroughly and vigorously. It is said that regular sucking of the breast lowers the risk level that tends to build up lumps leading to breast cancer. The breast must be sucked as often as possible. Help women fight breast cancer today. Men, please do your part and suck a breast now! And women, please endeavour to make it available regularly…… This message is from the Ministry of Health in the fight against breast cancer.<p>I have tried several times without success to get a confirmation for this story on the mentioned websites including <a href="http://cancer.org">cancer.org</a> and some others in related fields. But perhaps, someone out there knows the original and authentic source of this message? Please share it with us!<p>As interesting as this message may be, as well as the different responses it receives anytime it is being passed around, depending on which side of the divide you find yourself, I am more worried about the health implications attached. Cancer is not something to make jokes out of as it claims millions of lives across the world every year. Again, some frightened lady who hitherto was not in favour of breast sucking may easily submit herself to torture with the belief that she is suffering for a good reason. Please, let us not confuse issues. Breast feeding is not the same as breast sucking. Breast feeding is the process of feeding new born and infants with breast milk. It is this that has been medically proven to be of immense benefit to both mother and child and can prevent breast cancer. There are no scientifically proven studies indicating that breast sucking is of any medical benefit to the the woman whose breast is being sucked or the person doing the sucking.<p>However, what has been scientifically proven is the fact that breast sucking when properly performed is of immense pleasure to the woman and may sometime on its own lead to orgasm or when combined with some other forms of séxual stimulation will help a woman to achieve orgasm quicker. Again, neither has any research shown that breast sucking can give a woman cancer.<p>So ladies, please relax and allow your guys do the job for you. if you are not enjoying the way he is doing it, tell him. By 2011, he had succeeded in attracting the attention of music fans across Nigeria and then, gone ahead to win the Hip-hop World Revelation of the Year Award at the Hip-hop World Music Awards.<p>Dr Sid's excitement about the future includes the official release party of his Siduction album – scheduled to hold on May 9 – and his plan to explore other business opportunities.<p>Today, he is an MTN ambassador and the proud owner of a luxury home in in the Lekki area of Lagos, rumoured to be worth N100m.<p>Unlike some of his peers, who would rather inflate the cost just to give the impression that they have 'truly arrived', Dr. Sid chooses to come out clear on the details of the property.<p>"I put a mortgage payment plan in place, based on the savings I had made four years before I started a career in music. I am still paying for the house. And by the grace of God, I will get a second one soon. I pay close to N1m a month and sometimes, more. I am going to do this for the next 25 years and I am not ashamed to say it," he reveals.<p>Clearly a chip off the old block, the singer runs a production company. But he says that ever since his father passed on in 2013, he has been trying to complete his unfinished projects.<p>"I have just completed a TV series for the Ministry of Agriculture. My dad was working on the project before he died. I had to finish it," he says.<p>Despite growing up in the household of one of Nigeria's most successful actors, Dr. Sid is just making his debut in Nollywood. He was cast in Moses Inwang's latest movie entitled 'The Last Three Digits' alongside established actors like Bimbo Manuel and Rachael Oniga.<p>"I have always told my dad I wanted to act, but he would tell me not to worry that once he found the right script, I would come on board. But when he heard I was starring in a Nollywood movie he felt proud of me. The movie was shot in 2012 before he died," he says.<p>Not one to blow his trumpet, the singer is quick to correct what he sees as a wrong notion.<p>He says, "I am the son of a man considered to be one of the most popular actors on TV in the 1980s. So, all my life I have been in the spotlight for as long as I can remember. People see me as a celebrity, but I don't see myself as one. That is one of the qualities that keep me going."<p>Despite his achievements on the music scene and his growing popularity across the country, the singer claims that he is sometimes underrated by Nigerian music fans.<p>He says, "I sometimes feel so. But then, perception is reality. So if people look at you and don't see the goodness in you, it hurts. But I think it is only a matter of time; things will surely get better.<p>"A critic will only criticise an album he doesn't understand. If you listen to my album and cannot understand the concept behind its creation, do you criticize, it? If you don't understand a song, it is best to ask the artiste to explain instead of making sweeping assumptions.<p>On his decision to stick with Mavin Records since the collapse of Mohits, he says, "I am happy and honoured to be signed onto Mavin Records. I have a lot of respect for Wande Coal. He made a brave move and I wish him all the best. But I will not support anyone bad mouthing the label. With regards to Mavin Records deal, Don Jazzy has given me the opportunity to leave whenever I want to, but I won't leave and start saying something else."<p>With his marriage scheduled to take place in July, the chubby singer is visibly excited to talk about his fiancée, Simi Osomo. He says that though she is not a celebrity, she clearly understands the demands of his job and the challenges.<p>"She understands what she is getting into. My female fans, respect me and I also feel my relationship inspires them in different ways. So I guess that from lust and attraction it has moved to admiration," he says.

#BringBackOurGirls: Direct Your Protest To Boko Haram -President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday urged those who have been protesting the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, to henceforth direct their protest to the Boko Haram terrorists and not the government.<p>The President also urged the protesters to learn from citizens of other countries who do not blame their governments for any terrorist act.<p>He has however admitted publicly for the first time that his administration was currently consulting with some stakeholders with a view to exploring what he called alternative methods of resolving the present crisis.<p>Jonathan made the disclosure in a speech delivered on his behalf by the Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory, Olajumoke Akinjide, to a team of #BringBackOurGirls campaigners, led by a former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwezili.<p>The protesters, who had planned to take their protest to the Presidential Villa where they wanted Jonathan to address them were restricted by security agents to the Federal Secretariat within the Three Arms Zone, a few metres from the Villa gate.<p>Those who joined Akinjide in the delegation that represented Jonathan at the rally included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed; Minister of Information, Labaran Maku; Minister of Women Affairs, Zaynab Maina; and Minister of Environment, Lawrencia Laraba.<p>Others were the Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values, Sarah Jubiril; Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati; and the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, among others.<p>Jonathan, in the speech, said his administration was working hard, in conjunction with the international community, to rescue the abducted girls and end terrorism.<p>He said it was wrong and unfair to say that there was a slow response to the abduction.<p>He said, "It is wrong and most unfair to suggest that there was a slow reaction to this kidnapping. As Commander-in-Chief, Mr. President meets with the security chiefs almost daily and he is on constant consultation with regional and global partners on this terrorists' threat.<p>"We must be careful not to politicise the campaign against terrorism. It was a few minutes into the second half of the match.<p>The blast followed the twin blasts, which occurred in the same city. The explosion killed no fewer than a hundred people and left many others wounded and hospitalised. The bomb was said to have been planted in a car, near a car stand where some youths were watching the match.<p>It was gathered that the bomb exploded near a residence injuring the owner of the house and his son.<br>The bomber and two others died in the blast.<p>The sound of the blast, according to eyewitnesses, reverberated round the city and was heard around Angwan Rogo area of Jos North, behind the temporary site of the University of Jos. The sound was, reportedly, so loud it shook most buildings around the area. It was heard as far as Bukuru in Jos South, about 12 km from Jos.<p>A resident, Sani Mudi, who lives around Bauchi road told our correspondent that all the residents of the area rushed out of their houses, trying to fathom where the bomb exploded.<p>The spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, Mrs. Felicia Anselm, confirmed the blasts.<p>Another police source confirmed the bomb exploded at a television viewing centre, where some youths were watching the match.<p>"It is really a bad situation, the source said, adding, "but the details will be known by day break."<p>In a statement on Saturday night, Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, urged the people of the state to remain courageous. He said it was sad that the attack was coming barely four days after a similar one. He vowed to ensure that the masterminds are tracked down.<p>Independent but unconfirmed sources had had put the casualty figure from the Tuesday explosions at above 100 persons. This figure by eyewitness, however, contrasted with that given by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Olakpe, who said 46 people were killed while 45 other were wounded.<p>The first bomb on Tuesday, which was said to have been detonated by a suicide bomber in a Fiat car, happened at about 3pm when the market was at its peak.<p>The second blast went off in a Sienna space bus, parked about 20 metres away from the site of the first explosion.<p>Eyewitness said the bomber in the Fiat car stopped it abruptly along the busy Muritala Mohammed Highway, very close to the burnt Jos Main market, left it for minutes to obstruct traffic and cause enough build-up of cars behind. Ibrahim Sabo (retd.), Shettima said, "I didn't create Boko Haram, I inherited it in 2011 when I was sworn-in amidst near complete breakdown of security in Maiduguri, the largest and most populated part of the state. But I normally say that a leader is elected or appointed to solve problems, it doesn't matter whether the leader created the problem or not. A leader is elected to find solution, this is governance. There is a whole difference between politics and governance.<p>"In politics, you tell the general public and victims about a problem, you tell them the gravity of the problem; and with emphasis, you tell them who to blame for it. But in governance, you identify a problem and work hard to solve it. Unfortunately for us in this country, we all appear to lay more emphasis on politics than on governance. The Chibok incident, for me, has grossly exposed our weighty weakness as leaders in terms of assuming our shared responsibilities.<p>He lamented that a former Minister, Mrs. Kema Chikwe, came out to cast doubt over the abduction of these schoolgirls. "That woman completely disregarded the sensitivity of that issue, the pains of the agonising parents and our pains as a government, to whom, the parents of these girls, cry out in desperation and unimaginable confusion and anguish.<p>"Every other unreasonable Nigerian that came to adopt that view, only anchored the unfortunate view that was first expressed by Mrs Kema Chikwe. Doubt over that abduction pained me as much as the incident itself. Doubt over that abduction pained me far more than the childish theory that as a government, we staged that abduction in order to create basis to stop the extension of emergency rule in Borno."<p>He said that theory did not make the slightest sense, saying, if a government did not want extension of emergency and chose to fake happenings, the state government would rather deny that the abduction ever took place.<p>The governor, said he had approved N150m for the rehabilitation of the 53 girls who escaped from the Boko Haram captivity and for the assistance of the traumatised parents daughters are still held captive.

We are therefore embarking on this mild protest to demonstrate the fact that we feel their pains.<p>"The Boko Haram terrorists have murdered sleep and they shall no longer sleep. I can tell you that as parents, we have stopped sleeping long time ago and that is why we are gathered here to reiterate the fact that the terrorists have done havoc to our young girls.<p>"We cannot accept our girls to be swapped for the release of Boko Haram criminals who are being held by security agencies across the nation's prisons. We want them back alive."<p>Also, the Chairman of the Committee, Mrs. Bola Ogunrinade, said, "As parents, we are concerned and we don't know where the girls are. The girls will come back alive. Nothing must happen to them."<p>Other delegates, who participated in the protest include a Vice -President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Issa Aremu; the Leader of Market Women , Mrs. Felicia Sanni; and a former Peoples Democratic Party Woman, Leader, Mrs Josephine Anenih.

We were too scared, we just kept running, believing that with God on our side, we would get help" she said. <br> <br>Simon said after they had ran very far from the forest, they fortunately came across a Fulani herdsman, who helped them out of the bush to the express-road where they boarded a vehicle back to Chibok. <br> <br>She disclosed that she was in Maiduguri, because they were asked to come and watch a video that was recently released by the Boko Haram, leader Abubakar Shakau, in order for them to ascertain if the other girls who are still in captivity are all from GGSS. <br> <br>Simon, who confirmed that there were many of her schoolmates in the video, added that she felt a little bit relieved seeing that they are still alive, and expressed optimism that they will come back like she did. <br> <br>The elated escapee asserted that she felt bad when she saw some her schoolmates that are Christians reciting the Holy Koran. <br> <br>"It makes me feel sad knowing that they must have been forced to recite the Koran. Anyway, former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the news that his adopted son who is identified as one Muhammed Buhari was involved in a N20m fraud and that he has been arrested by the EFCC.<p>Disclaimer: Adopted Son of General Buhari Arrested For N20m Scam<br>Gen Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) wishes to state categorically that he does not have any adopted son called "Muhammadu Buhari" and had no need to adopt a son at any time having been blessed with choice children, both male and female.<br>Muhammadu Buhari and his family do not know the said "Muhammed Buhari" who is alleged to be involved in a N20m scam and is being held by EFCC.<br>It is regrettable to note that after several unsuccessful attempts to smear the hard earned respect, popularity, dignity, and enviable image of Muhammadu Buhari, mischief makers have resorted to a laughable tactic of linking Muhammadu Buhari to a crime just because someone who has been alleged to have committed a crime somewhere bears the name "Buhari".<br>Muhammadu Buhari is blessed with very descent and disciplined children who obviously took after their father. His children have no single record of stealing and inordinate behavior anywhere in the world. They do not seek attention, but have proven the stuff their father is made of any time their character is put to test.<p>However, this is understandable, since the entire attempts by mischief makers to discredit Muhammadu Buhari as an individual have failed. We frown at this poorly articulated gimmick to indirectly link Muhammadu Buhari and his family to a crime allegedly committed by someone unknown to him and his family just for the fact that the said suspect bears the name "Muhammed Buhari".<p>We urge Nigerians to ignore the said report as Muhammadu Buhari and his family will continue to set the pace for others to follow in good character and conduct.<p>Com.
