UTME 2015: JAMB Officially Release March 10 CBT Results

<p dir="ltr"></p> <p dir="ltr"><img src="http://naijaloaded.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/jambite.jpg"></p> <p dir="ltr"><b>The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the March 10th Computer Based Test (CBT) results for candidates that wrote yesterday. Statistics of yesterday's performance has some show of success from majority of the candidates that have seen their marks.</b></p> <p dir="ltr">Although the release of this year's Computer Based Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination was fast, the exam board had failed to meet up with the two (2) hours timeline given earlier for the publishing of result for the UTME written today. We however commend JAMB for making the result available same day – it's not easy!</p> <p dir="ltr">It is important to state that not every candidate that sat for the examination has seen their result. If you are yet to receive a text message from JAMB containing your total (aggregate) marks, please relax and don't panic. We can assure you that all the results will soon be out. Just sit tight and pray hard for a better grade.</p> <p dir="ltr">Regarding information on how to check March 10 CBT results online, we are yet to hear from JAMB on matters relating to checking for those who may have wrong phone number on record with the board.</p>

There is a Still fuel scarcity despite the assurance by NNPC

<p dir="ltr"> There seems to be no respite to the fuel crisis situation in the country, as the scarcity continued unabated, weekend, in Lagos Abuja, Nasarawa and environs.</p> <p dir="ltr"><img src="http://cdn2.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/412x250xFUEL-SCARCITY-2015.jpg.pagespeed.ic.N5OoKAl0F6.webp"><a href="http://www.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/FUEL-SCARCITY-2015.jpg"></a></p> <p dir="ltr">A man carries jerrycans to search for fuel in Lagos..</p> <p dir="ltr">This is happening despite the assurance given by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, that there is enough stock of petrol.</p> <p dir="ltr"><i>Vanguard </i>learnt that the situation was made worse by the agitation of independent marketers that the Federal Government needs to pay them the more than N250 billion they claimed to be owed.</p> <p dir="ltr">The marketers were said to be apprehensive that the Buhari administration may end up not paying them as they claimed. They, therefore, deem it necessary to arm twist  the government.</p> <p dir="ltr">To make good their threat, they have resorted to hoarding the product, thereby creating artificial scarcity. Most filling stations now open at night and sell at N100 per litre. Techno, Oando and MRS filling stations on Ojodu-Abiodun road, by Ojodu Berger area of Lagos were seen closed as at the time<i> Vanguard </i>visited. Vehicles were seen packed hoping to get the product, while the attendants refused to comment on the situation.</p> <p dir="ltr">Similar long queues were seen at Mobil, Conoil, at the tollgate end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, as well as Texaco and MRS at Ojota area of Lagos. Also, the NNPC station at Second Rainbow bus stop on the ever busy Mile 2-Oshodi expressway was closed to motorists who went to buy products. The same is applicable to all other fillings stations between First Rainbow and Mile 2.</p> <p dir="ltr"> </p> <p dir="ltr"><b>Black market </b><b>booms in Abuja</b></p> <p dir="ltr">The long queues that had been a constant phenomenon in the few petrol stations selling the products in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, remained, as motorists spent a minimum of six hours on the queue before they could get the products to buy.</p> <p dir="ltr">Some of the petrol stations, such as MRS, along the Kubwa Expressway, was seen selling with only two pumps, despite the fact that when <i>Vanguard</i> visited the station, it just finished taking delivery of a truck-load of petrol.</p> <p dir="ltr">Also, at the NNPC Mega Station, along the Kubwa Expressway, officials of the fuel station were seen conniving with security officials, to collect N1,000 each from impatient motorists who refused to join the queues. The motorists are then allowed into the station through the exit gate to purchase the product at the detriment of other law-abiding motorists who had been on the queue for hours.</p> <p dir="ltr">Again, a number of fuel stations in Kubwa, Lugbe and the Central Business District, which had been shut down throughout the day, were seen in the wee hours of the night, selling to individuals and black market operators in drums and plastic containers.</p> <p dir="ltr">This was even as the black marketers continued to have a field day, displaying their wares at major highways in Abuja and environs. The black marketers, who sell their products at between N180 to N250 per litre, were seen at almost all the petrol stations in Abuja, selling to motorists who did not want to join the long queues.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>Motorists </b><b>express </b><b>concern</b></p> <p dir="ltr">Motorists who spoke to <i>Vanguard</i> expressed concern over the perennial fuel scarcity and wondered why the Federal Government is yet to make any serious pronouncement about the situation.</p> <p dir="ltr">One of the motorists, Mr. Chisom Nnamdi, lamented that the fuel crisis is taking a toll on the lives of citizens, stating that getting fuel to buy from the petrol stations is gradually becoming an herculean task.</p> <p dir="ltr">According to him, Nigerians are gradually running out of patience with President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that it is high time the President took a decisive step towards addressing the fuel situation which has lingered for too long and is gradually becoming a national embarrassment.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>We 're working to arrest situation </b><i>—NNPC</i></p> <p dir="ltr">However, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, told <i>Vanguard</i> that the corporation is doing all within its powers to arrest the situation.</p> <p dir="ltr">He expressed optimism that the fuel situation will stabilise from today (Monday), adding that the NNPC has been constantly supplying fuel across the country, both to its retail outlets and some major and independent petroleum marketers.  He said the NNPC has resolved to publish data of its fuel supply to marketers on a daily basis, in a bid to update Nigerians on the situation of things.</p> <p dir="ltr">The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has also claimed that 188 truckloads of fuel, an equivalent of 6.2 million litres of petrol had been supplied to Abuja to ease off the fuel queue in the city.</p> <p dir="ltr">Mohammed Saidu, Spokesperson of the DPR in Abuja, had blamed the re-emergence of fuel queues in petrol stations to a drop in the lifting of fuel by marketers from Suleja depot.</p> <p dir="ltr">He stated that there had been a shortfall in products supply, adding that with the increase in the supply of more than six million litres towards the end of last week, the queues at filling stations would soon disappear.</p> <p dir="ltr">He argued that there was no reason why marketers would want to hoard fuel when the product is available. How Suicide bomber killed RCCG pastor, 5 others in Yobe

I saw him walking in and he didn't raise any suspicion. The dismembered body of the bomber was also recovered."</p> <p dir="ltr">It will be recalled that Potiskum last suffered a twin suicide attack on June 15, in which 10 people were killed and several others injured. The insurgents have launched a series of attacks on mosques, villages and markets in neighbouring Borno State in the past few days, claiming more than 200 lives.</p> <p dir="ltr">The use of improvised explosive devices and suicide bombings have increased since May 29 when President Muhammadu Buhari took office vowing to crush the rebellion.  According to the AFP, at least 450 people have lost their lives since that date.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>Support Buhari to end Boko Haram attacks, Jonathan urges Nigerians</b></p> <p dir="ltr">Meanwhile, former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari in tackling the Boko Haram insurgents in the country. Jonathan, who lamented the continuous attacks of the terrorists in the country, noted that the death of any Nigerian at the hands of Boko Haram is a sad reminder that the war on terror is a task for all Nigerians not just the armed forces</p> <p dir="ltr">"The death of any Nigerian at the hands of terrorists is a sad reminder that the war on terror is a task for all Nigerians not just the armed forces," he posted on his Facebook account to his almost two million followers. He also urged Nigerians to continue to pray for peace in the country and support the government of Buhari in taming the acts of terror.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I urge all Nigerians to continue to pray for peace in Nigeria and to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the government does its best to bring an end to these acts of terror and secure all Nigerians. <p dir="ltr">President Muhammadu Buhari has again acknowledged the role played by former president Goodluck Jonathan in midwifing a peaceful and successful transition programme in the country.</p> <p dir="ltr">He said this on Sunday in his address to the AU Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I cannot fail to acknowledge the very positive role played by my predecessor, President Goodluck Jonathan, in averting the feared crisis, and in facilitating the peaceful transition of power between the two parties.</p> <p dir="ltr">President Buhari said his election had been described as historic.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I agree that it is indeed historic because for the first time in the practice of democracy in my country, an opposition party has defeated the ruling party in a keenly contested election.</p> <p dir="ltr">"The election was also held against the backdrop of the fears and concerns expressed both in Nigeria and among our international friends abroad and partners that the outcome of the election could spell doom for Nigeria.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I am glad that even though those fears and concerns were not without basis, the outcome was totally different, to the relief of all of us,'' he said.</p> <p dir="ltr"><img src="http://cdn2.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/412x250xbuhari-old.jpg.pagespeed.ic.Bjwc70nPDF.webp"></p> <p dir="ltr">President Muhammadu Buhari delivers his address at the 25th AU summit in Johannesburg South Africa, June 14th 2015</p> <p dir="ltr">Buhari reiterated that the process, which was adjudged as the fairest and most credible in the history of elections in Nigeria, was midwifed by the dogged and sustained determination of the Nigerian people, and their desire to deepen democracy.</p> <p dir="ltr">He said the people's quest was amply supported, and even encouraged by the goodwill of friends and partners in the international community.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I therefore wish to seize this opportunity to convey my very deep appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of that election. AFP</p> <p dir="ltr">He recalled effort in the past by the federal government to strengthen university education through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, adding that universities should also seek support of corporate organizations, development partners to bridge the gap in government funding.</p> <p dir="ltr">He further tasked university authorities to give priority attention to security of lives and properties within their environment, adding that they should collaborate with host communities and security agencies in the this direction.</p> <p dir="ltr">Earlier Vice Chancellor of the school Professor Joseph Ajienka told the graduands that their certificates and transcripts were ready for collection, noting that it was the first time it would happen in the history of the institution,</p> <p dir="ltr">"For the first time, all certificates are ready.iAll your transcripts are ready for collection also for the first time. ", he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">He also extended his sympathy to parents and friends of four students of the university who lost their lives in a mob attack at Alluu community, Ikwerre local government area some years back</p> <p dir="ltr">Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike congratulated the school for its 40th anniversary, assuring that his administration would always assist the university in areas of need.</p> <p dir="ltr">Wike who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Mrs Ipalibo Banigo said his administration would focus on providing quality education in the state.</p> <p dir="ltr">He said the government would re introduce boarding education in the state, noting that teachers and staff in schools would regularly be trained and retrained for their jobs</p> <p dir="ltr">Chief Solomon Ogba, Chief Mrs Seinye Lulu Briggs and Ichie Nnaeto Orazulike were conferred with Honoris causa degrees.</p> <p dir="ltr">Chancellor of the University, His Royal Highness, Major General Dr Mohammad Bashir rtd congratulated the graduands, urging them to remain good ambassadors of the school.</p> <p dir="ltr">Meantime 50 graduands who benefitted from the yearly Agbami scholarship program of Chevron Nigeria limited for its host communities thanked the oil giant for the gesture<br> Three of them sponsored by the oil giant graduated I with first class honours,</p> <p dir="ltr">Fadoyemi Tunji one of the first class graduates from Gas Engineering said the scholarship enabled him pay his fees promptly, adding that it contributed largely to his success. <p dir="ltr"><i>N</i><i>ational affairs commentator, Jimi Disi was on Classic FM for his usual Front Page News analysis, a review of newspaper stories and said the following on Wednesday, June 10 edition:</i></p> <p dir="ltr"><b>On the emergence of Bukola Saraki as Senate President when some APC members including Senators-elect were at the International Conference Center for a purported meeting with President Buhari:</b></p> <p dir="ltr">"…It was said that Buhari didn't call the meeting, then who did? These are the questions but I don't want to delve much into it. How can an election be fixed for 10 am and on the same day a message flies in that a meeting with the President will hold at 9 am and there was no news about the rescheduling of the election? I think that Saraki read the whole thing well and outwitted them. I read a reaction that says APC rejects Saraki- Dogara's victory.</p> <p dir="ltr">The ultimate leader of the party is the President. He has recognized Saraki and Dogara. So who are the APC that are rejecting their victory? The Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has congratulated them. I once told you that these various groups have gone back to the trenches.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>Lai Mohammed's statement described Saraki's style treacherous</b></p> <p dir="ltr">That is a tough one. It is treachery. But sometimes in politics, that is the name of the game. It is not a decent thing to have done but in politics, to a large extent, this is good.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>House of Representative tussle</b></p> <p dir="ltr">Hon. Gbajabiamila was there. The truth is that the APC is not a tidy arrangement. That is what it is. Immediately they got victory, everybody went back to the trenches, they went back to their various groups. And the ultimate target of all these was <i><b>The</b></i> <i><b>Jagaba. </b></i>The groups within the APC who want to whittle down his influence and I also said it last week and even yesterday that he has gotten to a level when the ovation is loudest in his political ambition. I believe he should have taken a quiet back step in all these. For example, he was responsible for what happened to Hon. And we all understand what that means. . . Now Buhari has a Senate President he can do business with, he has a House of Representative Speaker he can do business with, he has House of Representative members he can do business with, people who will not be on his neck.</p> <p dir="ltr">There is something called perception and the distance between perception and reality is very close. The President should feel much better. Tinubu's influence is what is causing all these and I don't think he(Tinubu) has handled it quite well. Saraki and Dogara are both APC members. Elections were conducted to pick a Speaker and the President of the Senate in the National Assembly not in the party. If the party wants a candidate, they should tidy up their act.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>Will Senator Bukola Saraki last on the seat?</b></p> <p dir="ltr">Tambuwal did exactly the same thing and he lasted four years. Saraki is a fantastic politician in terms of depth moves.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>Chief Bode George's comment.</b></p> <p dir="ltr">Chief Bode George, a former Deputy Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party PDP said that with the National Assembly election Tinubu's political career was over. The former deputy chairman also added that Tinubu should have stopped after he successfully nominated Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as the Vice President and picking a Yoruba person as Speaker would backfire.</p> <p dir="ltr">Jimi Disu's reaction to this: "I know that Chief Bode George will gloat over a thing like this and I think if Asiwaju considers this statement and other developments, he might also do a rethink about his strategy and come up with something else. I mean Tinubu should take a back step and let other things revolve. I do not like the godfather element and monuments in politics. I believe in fair and square but you cannot ignore his political contributions.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>Reduction of Ministries from 19 to 13 by the Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El Rufia</b></p> <p dir="ltr">El Rufia just yesterday(Tuesday) told the Emirs that he will no longer allocate fertilizers to them. You all know what the fertilizer is. And this is a cheering news and he has also cut his salary by 50%. The Governor said this was intended to cut cost of governance and improve services. I also heard that any Commissioner who wants to appoint SSA or Aid should get a clearance from him. He seems to be well focused.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>Fuel crisis</b></p> <p dir="ltr">I don't know when we will get over this fuel crisis but I hear that some part of the East is almost a total shut down as far as fuel is concerned. I just wish we knew the intention of this government by now. The week is almost running to an end and we are still where we were two weeks back.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>Back to APC</b></p> <p dir="ltr">There is a division in the APC party. The President is leader of any party that produces the President. That is the norm. In every state for example, the governor is the leader of the party in that state . There is always a party chairman but the governor is the leader of the party in every state where the party is in control. At Federal level, the President is or should be the leader of the party. That is the tradition, I am not talking constitution now.</p> <p dir="ltr">If Buhari has accepted the leadership of the National Assembly which other party leadership are we saying has dissented? … I hope the APC arrangement doesn't fall apart because the cracks are widening. I know a couple of people who are close to this gentleman (Tinubu) who have told him he needs to be careful. Because there is a fear of him, people know what he (Tinubu) can do if he is allowed to use his influence. In any situation of every human endeavour, one must learn when to back down. He was the governor for eight years, and governor for another eight years and another eight years probably. Nobody wants to be at the mercy of another person in today's modern politics. The world has changed. The days of godfather have gone. Everybody wants their wish done and recognized. But you must recognise his great contributions.</p> <p dir="ltr"><b>On education vis a vis unemployment</b></p> <p dir="ltr">He said "there are two sides to unemployment in Nigeria. We have lots of unemployed people and also unemployable graduates. Therefore, creating more universities without enhancing the ones in existence, without setting standards is worsening unemployment. We need to de-emphasize what I call "paper qualification". We need to move from the belief that every child must be a graduate. Kids should have different styles of skills. That is why we do not have trained mechanics and the rest."</p>
